Maspalomas
Fine sand and incredible sand dunes sculpted by the wind with views of the sea in the distance: it’s no wonder such a beautiful beach is so popular. Maspalomas is a paradise for beach lovers, and fun for families with children, especially if you want to escape the cold European winter! There are all kinds of sports and leisure facilities along the beachfront, including showers, bars, restaurants and shops. The area includes the Charca of Maspalomas, which is a small lagoon separated with a strip of sand from the sea; this is one of Gran Canaria’s most well-known natural reserves. Maspalomas isn’t all sand and beach, though; up north is the area of Campo de Golf, which is occupied by several bungalow complexes with lovely green communal areas and, of course, the well-known golf course. Maspalomas is known as one of the most tranquil zones in the south. Near the Campo de Golf you can find the shopping centre, Faro 2, and the amusement park, Holiday World, where you can enjoy beautiful views from the ferris wheel, or have a fun night out bowling with friends and family.
Maspalomas is a very safe area, and taking a late night walk should bring you little to no concern. The community of Maspalomas consists of a majority of retired folk, as most of the properties are bungalows. It’s also a great area for children due to all of its family attractions such as Holiday World, the skate park, Faro 2 shopping centre, and the newly constructed park Parque Sur; little to no traffic in the area as well. Campo de Golf has predominantly turned into a residential zone, as there are barely any merchandise vehicles passing by the area. Maspalomas is guaranteed to be a neighborhood where you can enjoy a calm afternoon in your garden.
